Hacking Windows Vista SecurityDue to its extensibility, Windows Vista presents a huge opportunity for security-minded hackers (and consultants). Various capabilities of the operating system are now exposed to programmers via plug-ins and easier-to-use APIs. I'll demo some examples we've been working on: crypto, IPsec and IPv6, the Windows firewall and new Filtering Platform, and smart cards. Code for the demos will be made available for subsequent tinkering. Dan GriffinDan Griffin is a software security consultant in Seattle, WA. He previously spent seven years at Microsoft on the Windows Security development team. Dan can be contacted at http://www.jwsecure.com. |
